2,2′-{1,1′-[Pentane-1,5-diylbis(oxynitrilo)]diethylidyne}di-1-naphthol

The title compound, C(29)H(30)N(2)O(4), adopts a distorted Z configuration with respect to the oxime group, which is almost coplanar with the adjacent naphthalene ring [dihedral angle = 4.11 (2)°]. There is one half-mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit, with a crystallographic twofold rotation axis passing through the central C atom of the -CH=N-O-(CH)(5)-O-N=CH- bridge. Within the mol-ecule, the d...

2,4-Dinitro-1-naphthol

In the title compound, C(10)H(6)N(2)O(5), the two fused rings are almost co-planar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0163 Å. The nitro groups are oriented at dihedral angles of 2.62 (11) and 44.69 (11)° with respect to the plane of the parent fused rings. Intra-molecular O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds complete S(6) ring motifs. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into chains along [101] by inter...

1-(Hydroxyiminomethyl)-2-naphthol

The title compound, C(11)H(9)NO(2), was prepared by a condens-ation reaction of 2-hydr-oxy-1-naphthaldehyde with hydroxyl-ammonium chloride in refluxing ethanol. An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond is observed. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions result in a two-dimensional network.

5-Amino-1-naphthol

In the title compound, C(10)H(9)NO, the amino and the hydr-oxy groups act both as a single donor and a single acceptor in hydrogen bonding. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected via chains of inter-molecular ⋯N-H⋯O-H⋯ inter-actions, forming a two-dimensional polymeric structure resembling the hydrogen-bonded mol-ecular assembly found in the crystal structure of naphthalene-1,5-diol. Within t...

The tundra-taiga interface, or forest-tundra (lesotundra in Russian, and toundra forestière in French), corresponds to the subarctic zone where the closed boreal forest gradually becomes less dense and progressively breaks down into tree islands towards the treeless, Arctic tundra (1). The interface does not form a sharp limit of tree growth in the landscape but is instead a north-south transit...
